Google’s AI Mode in Search can now book reservations and tickets for you

Google is giving its AI-powered Search a big upgrade. After launching AI Mode in India back in July, the company is now expanding the feature to 180 countries and territories. Alongside the rollout, Google has introduced new agentic capabilities that let the AI do more than just answer questions — it can now perform real-world tasks.

The first of these features is the ability to find and book restaurant reservations. Users can tell AI Mode their preferences — such as date, time, location, or cuisine — and the system will check multiple reservation platforms in real time, then provide available slots.

But this is just the beginning. Google says AI Mode will soon be able to handle other tasks like buying tickets, booking local appointments, and more. Essentially, Search is evolving from being just a place to look up information into a tool that can act on your behalf.

This new agentic feature is powered by Project Mariner, which gives AI Mode live web browsing capabilities. For now, it’s rolling out in the U.S. to Google AI Ultra subscribers as part of the Labs experiment.

AI Mode is also getting more personalised search results, starting with dining. Based on your past conversations in AI Mode, places you’ve searched, or locations from Maps, it will suggest restaurants and cafes that match your interests. Users will still be able to adjust personalisation settings in their Google account.

Finally, Google is adding a “share” button to AI Mode, making it easier to send AI responses to friends and family. This makes planning group outings, trips, or meetups more collaborative and seamless.

With these upgrades, Google’s AI Mode is moving closer to becoming a digital assistant that doesn’t just inform you but also gets things done.
